Pandora Ryan

Award-winning garden designer.

From a childhood rooted in the varied and rugged landscape of the Yorkshire Pennines, with the freedom to roam and explore, Pandora developed a deep connection to the natural world and sense of place.  This, combined with a life-long passion for plants, growing and gardening, underpins Pandora’s approach to design – creating beautiful, sustainable, plant-filled spaces that benefit the environment and exceed clients’ expectations.

Before specialising in garden design, Pandora studied Fine Art, Sculpture at degree level and pursued a career in London’s art world, working for leading institutions including Tate, the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) and the Royal Academy of the Arts (RA).  Her background and training in art underpins her designs and informs an experimental and painterly approach to planting design.

In 2019, Pandora pursued her passion for garden design, studying at London’s prestigious KLC School of Design, achieving a Diploma in Garden Design with Distinction.  Since graduating, Pandora has created award-winning show gardens including the Moscow Flower Show, winning the alumni competition for her show garden at the Moscow Flower Jam, creating a show border at the Belvoir Castle Flower Show and most recently being selected to create a Long Border at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park (July 2023).  In 2022 Pandora designed and created a stand at RHS Chelsea Flower Show as well as designing the show planters for RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival.

Pandora now runs a successful design practice in Yorkshire, working on projects in the region and across the UK, specialising in domestic gardens, commercial projects and planting design.  Alongside this, Pandora lectures and tutors in garden design and is a Principal Tutor at the Yorkshire School of Garden Design.
